Step 2) Complete
Your Placement Tests
After you submit your orientation reservation
request, you’re ready to take your
placement tests. Read the instructions carefully to determine whether a particular placement test is required for you. All students are required to complete these placements before they attend orientation, regardless of transfer status. In order to be
placed in the appropriate courses,
you must complete your placement tests prior to your orientation session. Get started
early!

Instructions for Language
Placement Tests |
| |
Do I Need to Take the Language
Placement Test?
- You must take a language placement
test if:
1. You did not complete three years or third level
of the same language.
2. You plan to continue studying a language.
- You cannot "test out" of
the language requirement through
this placement test.
- If you plan to begin studying
a new language, you do not need
to take the placement test. You
can just enroll in the introductory
level course in that language.
- Read the instructions below for language placement tests in
French, German, Russian, and Spanish. Students planning to study Hebrew should read the instruction below. If you took
a language OTHER THAN THESE, you will take your placement
test during your orientation session or by arrangement with the department.
- For placement in Hebrew please contact Dr. Zilla Goodman by e-mail (zilla.goodman@colorado.edu). Dr. Goodman will also be available in her office (McKenna 228D) on Wed. August 20, 2008 at 1:00 to meet with students who have Hebrew placement questions. If you have a question before that date, please contact Jan Kaufman at (303) 492-7404.
- This test is designed to help
you place into the appropriate
language class. You are on the
honor system for completing the
exam without assistance, and
there are significant consequences
to taking a class at a level
for which you are unprepared.
Enrolling in the wrong level
of a language could really hurt
your grade point average. More
information about academic integrity
is available at www.colorado.edu/academics/honorcode.
- Print and keep a copy of your
language placement score and
bring it to orientation.
- If you get disconnected or
forget to print your placement
results, simply return to the
website, reenter your name,
ID, and e-mail address exactly
as you did before, and press "resume." This
will take you back to the exam
results or let you continue the
exam.
