Supportworks - Windows Installation and Configuration

Overview

There are three parts to this installation. First, the installation software must be downloaded and run. Next, the Firewall must be setup so that Supportworks can run properly.

This tutorial applies to the following operating system(s):
  • WINDOWS

Quick Start

This documentation applies to both Windows Vista and Windows 7.

Step 1

Download the software: Version 7.3.11: swcli7.3.11.exe

Step 2

An alert button will pop up asking if you want to verify if you want to save the installation file. Click Save File.

Step 3

Double-click the downloaded file after the download has finished.

The Client Setup will start. Click on the Next button.

Step 5

The next window will ask for a Destination Folder, which will, by default, place the program in Program Files. Unless you have a reason for changing the default folder, leave it as is.

Click on the Next button.

Step 7

The next window will show the program group that the Supportworks shortcuts will be saved in. The default folder is set to Supportworks Client. Click on the Next button.

Step 8

In the Server: text field, enter swclient.colorado.edu. Then click on the Next button.

Step 9

The installation will run and set up all the necessary program files.

Step 10

Click Finish when the setup completes.

After Supportworks is installed, the Firewall settings must be fixed to allow the program to run properly. Instructions for Windows Vista and for Windows 7 are found in the Related Tutorials section below.
