Exchange Online - Apple Mail Configuration

The following instructions step through the process of configuring your Microsoft 365 Exchange Online account with Apple Mail for macOS 10.15 or higher.

Please note: OIT cannot support the Apple Mail application past this initial configuration because the vendor does not consistently adhere to Microsoft's Exchange standards. Learn more about our support and recommendations on the Exchange Online page.

Step

Click the Apple logo in the upper left of your screen, then open System Preferences.

Select Internet Accounts

Step

Select Exchange. You may need to click the plus sign + in the bottom left corner first. 

Step

Enter a display name for your account in the Name field, and your IdentiKeyUsername@colorado.edu (not first.last@colorado.edu) address in the Email Address field then click Continue

Select Sign in to connect to your exchange account.

If prompted, you may need to authenticate using Multi-factor authentication

Step

Enter your IdentiKey password then click Sign In.

Step

Select the apps you wish to access with this account, then click Done.

Select your mail protection preference, if prompted. 

Step

Your account will now appear in the left hand column on the Internet Accounts page. Close the system preferences window. 

Step

Launch Apple Mail and your exchange inbox will populate.
