OIT supports Sophos antivirus software for university owned computers.
Note: If your computer is managed by Dedicated Desktop Support, you should not download Sophos. Your technician will install antivirus software for you, and it is not recommended to have more than one type of antivirus software installed at one time.
If you are using Mac OS 10.8 (Mountain Lion) you need to temporarily adjust settings in order to install Sophos or you will recieve an error message. In order to bypass this error message:
Once you have installed Sophos, be sure to readjust this setting to be Mac App Store and identified developers.
The software will automatically begin to download. Once it is finished downloading, click Close.
*Note: Updates to the CU-Boulder provided Sophos software require an on campus connection to install. Off campus users can connect to the campus network by using the campus VPN service.
