This document demonstrates how to export your D2L grade book information as a roster that can be used with CUClickers' i>clicker software.

This tutorial applies to the following operating system(s):
  • MAC

Version information:

  • The instructions below apply to version 7.4.1 of the i>clicker software.
  • If you are not running version 7.4.1 go to the i>clicker download page.

Step 1

Access your D2L course and from the Assessments drop-down menu click on Grades.

Step 2

Click on Enter Grades.

Step 3

Click Export.

Step 4

In the Export Grades window, make sure you've selected (or unselected) the following choices:

  • Export Grade Items For: All users
  • Key Field: Username
  • Grade Values: None (no checks in any of the check boxes)
  • User details: Last Name, First Name
  • Choose Grades to Export: None (no checks in any of the check boxes)

Step 5

Click on the Export to CSV button.

Step 6

Click on the file that appears in the pop-up to download the file.

Step 7

Make sure that you rename the file to gradesexport.csv. If you do not rename the file to gradesexport.csv, then the i>clicker software will not recognize the data.

Note: If you have the choice, choose Save File instead of opening it.

Step 8

If you open the file and don't change the name by going to Save As, then you can change the name by clicking on the file in its saved location (default is generally the Desktop).

Step 9

Move the exported file from your D2L grade book and place it in your course folder (located in the main i>clicker folder).

*Note: The Roster.txt file is not necessary for Desire2Learn and should be deleted if present.

Step 10

Open the i>clicker application, select your course and click Settings.

Step 11

In the Gradebook tab, select Desire2Learn from the Roster Source drop-down options.

Step 12

Click Save.

Step 13

After using i>clicker in your course, you can export results from the i>grader program to include in your D2L grade book.

Learn about this process by visiting the D2L - Importing CUClicker Scores into Grade Book tutorial.
