The Intelligent Agents tool allows Instructors to set up automatic notifications to be sent to themselves, advisors, and students when specified course performance criteria are met. It can be used to both recognize student achievement (e.g., a highscore on a quiz) and warn of potential problems (e.g., lack of online activity or poor performance on an exam). The following documentation demonstrates the process of creating an Intelligent Agent.
When the criteria for your agent is met, an email will need to be sent to the person who met the criteria. To do this you must enter one of the following commands in the To: text box:
Once you have entered one of these commands, fill out the rest of the email message.
To try a practice run of your agent, ensure the agent is enabled, then click the dropdown arrow next to the agent name and select Practice Run. Then choose Run in the popup window that opens. The agent will identify users that meet its criteria, but it won’t send any actual emails. You can see the results under View History (see next step).
