CUClickers - Windows Download and Setup

Overview

The CUClickers student response system utilizes a program called i>clicker to poll students and a program called i>grader to view results. You will only be downloading a .zip file that once unzipped is a folder called iclicker Win v6.1. This folder has the i>clicker andi>grader applications —no installation process is necessary.

  • Windows XP, Vista, and Windows 7
  • Windows 2000
    • i>clicker software is no longer available for Windows 2000. OIT recommends that you upgrade your operating system. OIT discontinued support for Windows 2000 in 2008

Version information:

  • The instructions below apply to version 6.1.6 of the i>clicker and i>grader software.

Quick Start

Step 1

After downloading the CUClickersWin.zip file, double click on the icon.

Step 2

In the window that opens, you will see a folder called iclicker Win v6.1. Drag this folder onto the desktop to extract the files.

The Copying... progress bar will display, as shown to the left.

Once the Copying process has completed the iclicker Win v6.1 folder will be accessible.

Inside the folder you will see the i>clicker and i>grader programs.

  • iclicker.exe is the program you will use to poll your students.
  • igrader.exe is the program you will use to view the saved results.

Now, double click on iclicker.exe.

Click Add Course to add your first course to i>clicker. You will need to add a course for each class that you plan on using i>clicker with.

Enter your class information like seen below and click Create.

Highlight the course and click Choose.

The i>clicker program will open. Click on Your Settings and Preferences.

The General tab will open first.

In the Enter Your Course Name text field enter your course and/or section name.

In the Frequency Code section, set the frequency for the classroom you will be teaching in. Click here for a list of classroom frequencies.

Click the Registration/Export tab.

Now look at the Security Code for Campus Hosted Registration text field. Make sure that there is text entered into this field by default. If there is not, enter:

SQLhttp://cuclickers.colorado.edu:8080/IClicker/GetRegistered?c=

This will allow you to synchronize remote IDs with students' names in the i>grader program.

In the Course Management System section, make sure that General (no CMS specified) is selected.

Click here if you want to use a roster from your Desire2Learn grade book or upload your results into your Desire2Learn grade book.

While in Settings and Preferences, you can set your remaining preferences for Polling Session.

Save these settings by clicking on the Set for Course button.

You will be returned to the main i>clicker menu.
