Add URL to Java's Exception Site List

Overview

After Java version 7 update 51, Oracle has introduced the Exception Site List feature in Java preferences, so a user can allow Java to load a from a URL that is not from a trusted developer. The steps below demonstrate this for both Windows and Macintosh.

This tutorial applies to the following operating system(s):
  • MAC
  • WINDOWS

Current CU Services Affected

Step 1

Open System Preferences (Mac) or Control Panel (Windows).

Step 2

Click Java, then a new window will appear.

Step 3

Click the Security tab.

Step 4

Click the Edit Site List… button.

Step 5

Click Add, then type the URL for the site for which you wish to make an exception.

*Note: To allow Network Connect to launch from your browser, add https://cuvpn.colorado.edu to the list.

Step 6

Click Ok and the site will now be in the exception list.
