CU-Boulder is replacing our aging telephone and voice messaging systems with a new Cisco Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) Unified Communications system. In the coming weeks, a number of changes will occur to lay the foundation for the new system. Some of these changes require your attention.
Over the last few months, the Office of Information Technology (OIT) has been evaluating a new web conferencing service to replace Adobe Connect, a service scheduled to be retired this summer due to low usage rates. We are pleased to announce that Zoom will replace it. Zoom is a web conferencing tool that unifies cloud video conferencing, online meetings, and collaboration into a single intuitive platform.

The Office of Information Technology is embarking upon a large-scale project to replace CU-Boulder’s aging telephone and voice messaging systems with a new Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) Unified Communications (UC) system. The new system will no longer use the existing network of copper wires that are dedicated solely to telephone services, and instead will carry telephone calls over the existing campus data network.
For the past several months, the Office of Information Technology's efforts have been sharply focused on bringing Microsoft Office 365 to campus. Microsoft Office 365 is a cloud-based suite of collaborative apps that includes Exchange Online, Office Web Apps (web based versions of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and OneNote), OneDrive, SharePoint Online, and Lync Online.

Desire2Learn has existed on the CU-Boulder campus for over two years now. During the 2013 fall semester, over 2,400 courses used D2L. With so many instructors utilizing D2L at CU-Boulder, the growing collective knowledge about D2L has contributed to increasingly effective uses of the feature-rich online learning environment.

This Maymester, OIT will update i>clicker bases with the latest firmware, and also begin supplying i>clicker version 6.4.1 as the officially supported software for i>clicker.

“I was a unique kid in that I grew up in Rochester, MN where it was a hotbed of technology with IBM and the Mayo Clinic located there,” recalled Mark. “We had a lot more technology in our schools and I started programming and tinkering with computers right away when they came out.”

Often these attacks come during holidays when campus IT support is unavailable.
