Overview 

Through software site licensing, OIT receives bulk discounts on some software. Students are strongly encouraged to own computers while at CU-Boulder. Departments are recommended to maintain a four-year replacement cycle for faculty and staff desktop computers. OIT can advise in software and hardware purchases for all three groups.

Software

Downloads: Includes antivirus software, PGP encryption software, VPN, CUClickers, SSH Secure Shell and more.

Software Recommendations: A list of software recommendations for new computers.

OIT Supported Software: A list that details the minimum software version that is required to receive support from the IT Service Center and Desktop Support.

Microsoft Software: The Microsoft Campus Agreement provides licenses as a common good to CU-Boulder faculty and staff (including student employees) for select Microsoft products and upgrades.

Apple Software: The Apple Education Licensing Program provides Apple software licenses for faculty and staff university purchased computers.

Site Licenses: Volume-discount software rates for departments and individuals on the Boulder campus.

TeX and LaTex: LaTeX is the de facto standard for the communication and publication of scientific documents, and is available as free software.

Faculty Computer Purchase Program: To help replace older faculty computers, the FCPP offers funds on a rotating 4-year basis.
