Troubleshooting Tips
If your web page files are not appearing on the World Wide Web there are a few possibilities for what could be wrong:
- Check the URL you entered. Make sure that you haven't made any typos, spelling or capitalization errors. Remember that URLs are case-sensitive, so check the file name and make sure it is the same as what you typed in the Location or Address bar.
- If you've checked and re-typed your URL but your web page files can still not be viewed, FTP or publish your files again. For whatever reason, there could have been an error when you originally tried to upload your web page files.
- If you click on an internal link on one of your web page files, but the desired page cannot be found, then most likely the link is "broken," which means you may have mistyped it or wrongly addressed it incorrectly. Re-open that file and check the address of the link. If you make changes, FTP or publish that file again.
- If the web page file cannot be viewed and has a "Forbidden" or "Permission" message, then there are problems with the way permissions are set. To learn more about permissions and how to resolve this problem visit our General Permissions Guide.
