Overview

Technical Staff, like our IT Partners, can find helpful information on this page along with installers to Forefront Client Security .msi installers for desktop deployment

Tips for helping your customers transition

  • First, it's a good practice to uninstall CAeTrust from their systems. Uninstall CA eTrust on Windows and Uninstall CA eTrust on Macintosh.
  • Second, use the information on the main page to determine the particular solution that works best for your customers. All solutions are no-cost. OIT asks that all university-owned computers running Windows use Forefront Client Security and those running Mac OS use ClamXav.
  • When setting up Forefront it is vital that Microsoft Updates be activated through Windows Update, otherwise software will not stay up-to date. Visit our Forefront page to learn more.
  • Don't forget that OIT is here to help and our Desktop Support technicians are available for office appointments or walk-in help in two locations.

Linux Solutions

OIT advises Linux administrators to use file protection based on the functionality of the system. If you are running a file server that hosts files that can be executed on a Windows system, use antivirus protection from ClamAV. Host-based intrusion detection (HIDS) is advised for system that run internet facing services.
