Getting Started with Network Connect

About Your Connection

With this standard connection through Network Connect:

  • Your network traffic will be routed through CU-Boulder.
  • You should be able to:
    • Access all libraries resources.
    • Access file servers.
    • SSH, remote desktop, CIFS, NFS
    • If you are unable to gain access to an on-campus resource with this connection, talk to the administrator of that resource. Refer them to the help information on the support page.
    • You can still access your home networked devices, like a networked printer.
    • Access ISIS administrative tools from off-campus.
  • Your external traffic is routed through CU-Boulder as well (like GMail and Facebook). Please review the following policies:
  • Your IP address is located in CU-Boulder's public IP space.
Advanced Users
  • Network Connect's Limited Service
    • The Network Connect client can also connect to a limited service that OIT provides. This service, will only route your network traffic to the campus when you access campus resources like file shares and servers.
    • Limited—You will not have access UCB Libraries' partner resources from other institutions.
    • To use—Open the Network Connect client and enter https://cuvpn.colorado.edu/limited in the Sign In At: text field
Connecting to a Custom VPN
  • If you need to connect to a custom VPN for a particular service you will need to enter the custom URL provided to you by the service manager.
  • Learn how to connect via Network Connect.
Juniper Installer Service for Managed System
  • Juniper Service Installer
    • Who's It for?
      • Administrators with users who don't have administrative permissions to their systems who also use the Juniper Network Connect VPN client.
    • How does it work?
      • Once it has been installed on a system by a user who has administrative privileges, it allows users without administrative privileges to install and/or update the Juniper Network Connect VPN client without administrative privileges, or any other additional steps or assistance.
    • Install
      • The Juniper Service Installer must be installed on a system by a user with administrative privileges to that computer. Once that has been completed, any user will be able to install or update the Juniper VPN client components without any administrative assistance.
      • Download and install the Juniper Service Installer.
