CU-Boulder has partnered with Google in order to offer Google-powered communication and collaboration tools to the campus. Initially, the Google Apps for Education project will focus on moving students (and others) from CULink to Google, and also offer collaboration tools to all campus affiliates. This primary implementation will occur during the Spring 2013 semester, with access to applications being enabled based on affiliation (i.e. student, faculty, staff, retiree, alumni, etc.). To learn more please review the information below.
To access Google Apps you must use a combination of your CU Login Name and IdentiKey password at https://accounts.google.com/ or any core Google Apps login page.
Although Google asks for your “Email”, the system cannot support the use of your firstname.lastname@example.org as a username. Instead, you must use email@example.com you log into the service. Once you are in the system you can use your preferred email address (usually firstname.lastname@example.org) to share resources.
Depending on affiliation, you receive a different set of applications during the initial implementation of Google Apps. Initially, faculty and staff will not be able to choose Gmail as their primary university e-mail account, as there are remaining technical and legal issues to be addressed. The table below explains the different sets of tools received, depending on affiliation:
|Student||Gmail, Contacts, Calendar, Chat, Groups, Drive (Docs), Sites|
|Faculty and Staff||Chat, Groups, Drive (Docs), Sites|
|Retirees (on CULink)||Gmail, Contacts, Calendar, Chat, Groups, Drive (Docs), Sites|
|Retirees (on Exchange)||Chat, Groups, Drive (Docs), Sites|
|Alumni (E-mail for Life)||Gmail, Contacts, Calendar, Chat, Groups, Drive (Docs), Sites|
|Persons of Interest (on CULink)||Gmail, Contacts, Calendar, Chat, Groups, Drive (Docs), Sites|
