Exchange - Known Issues

Overview

Listed below are known issues related to Exchange 2007 email and calendaring functions as well as possible workarounds and/or progress toward resolution of the issues. If the suggested workarounds do not help you, or if you are having any issue at all, contact the IT Service Center (303-735-4357, 5-HELP from on-campus, or help@colorado.edu).

Office 2011: 14.5.0 Update Causing Missing Outlook Window

  • Issue: After installing the 14.5.0 Office 2011 for Mac update, users will not see the main Outlook window upon opening the application. This doesnt allow for views of email, calendar and other important tools. If you have not yet installed the 14.5.0 update, do not apply until a fix is isssued.
  • Workarounds:
    • Uninstall Office and reinstall a version of Office from before the 14.5.0 update.
    • Use the following steps to get the main window to appear.
      1. Open the Terminal application.
      2. Type defaults delete com.microsoft.Outlook (to delete the old preferences).
      3. Type killall cfprefsd (to kill the cached prefs)
      4. Launch Outlook
      5. You may need to repeat the process in the future.
