Last Updated: 11/21/2013

Overview

Listed below are known issues related to Exchange 2007 email and calendaring functions as well as possible workarounds and/or progress toward resolution of the issues. If the suggested workarounds do not help you, or if you are having any issue at all, contact the IT Service Center (303-735-4357, 5-HELP from on-campus, or help@colorado.edu).

Entourage 2008

Calendar "Not Connected" Error

function toggle1() {
var ele1 = document.getElementById("toggleText1");
var text1 = document.getElementById("displayText1");
if(ele1.style.display == "block") {
ele1.style.display = "none";
text1.innerHTML = "Show Issue";
}
else {
ele1.style.display = "block";
text1.innerHTML = "Hide Issue";
}
}

Show Issue

  • Impact: Since April 10, 2010, Entourage has been displaying a connection error even though the client has been updated to connect to exchangeweb.colorado.edu. This problem most likely happens because of shared calendar connections, which are still trying to connect to exchange.colorado.edu
  • Resolution: Remove each shared calendar by right-clicking (or CTRL-click) and selecting Remove From View. After the shared calendars have been removed, you may add them back. Read more about shared calendars for Entourage 2008.

Outlook

Calendar Permissions & Missed Calendar Appointments

function toggle3() {
var ele3 = document.getElementById("toggleText3");
var text3 = document.getElementById("displayText3");
if(ele3.style.display == "block") {
ele3.style.display = "none";
text3.innerHTML = "Show Issue";
}
else {
ele3.style.display = "block";
text3.innerHTML = "Hide Issue";
}
}

Show Issue

  • Impact: Using different versions of Outlook for the Mailbox Owner and the Delegate may rarely cause the following issues:
    • Missed Calendar Appointments/Calendar does not update
    • Calendar Permissions on an appointment may not get set properly
  • Resolution: Delegates and mailbox owners use the same version of Outlook. Otherwise, be careful that appointment and meeting details are accurate.

Outlook 2011

Calendar prone to corruption

function toggle4() {
var ele4 = document.getElementById("toggleText4");
var text4 = document.getElementById("displayText4");
if(ele4.style.display == "block") {
ele4.style.display = "none";
text4.innerHTML = "Show Issue";
}
else {
ele4.style.display = "block";
text4.innerHTML = "Hide Issue";
}
}

Show Issue

  • Impact: On Outlook 2011 the local database for mail items or calendars is prone to corruption. To correct this:
  • Resolution:
    1. Select the folder that contains the corruption
    2. Right on the folder
    3. Select Folder Properties
    4. On the General Tab under Empty Cache click the Empty Button

iPhone OS (iPhone, iPod Touch, iPad)

Mobile Device Synchronization

function toggle5() {
var ele5 = document.getElementById("toggleText5");
var text5 = document.getElementById("displayText5");
if(ele5.style.display == "block") {
ele5.style.display = "none";
text5.innerHTML = "Show Issue";
}
else {
ele5.style.display = "block";
text5.innerHTML = "Hide Issue";
}
}

Show Issue

  • Impact: Mobile devices, including those running iOS, from time to time become out of sync with Microsoft Outlook. Messages do not correctly get marked as read, deleted or moved between folders.
  • Workaround: The workaround is to delete the Exchange profile from the affected mobile device. Then delete the device profile from Exchange by logging into https://exchangeweb.colorado.edu, clicking on Options, select Mobile Devices, then click on the Remove Device from List link. After successfully deleting your account, then set up your account again.

Calendar Synchronization

function toggle6() {
var ele6 = document.getElementById("toggleText6");
var text6 = document.getElementById("displayText6");
if(ele6.style.display == "block") {
ele6.style.display = "none";
text6.innerHTML = "Show Issue";
}
else {
ele6.style.display = "block";
text6.innerHTML = "Hide Issue";
}
}

Show Issue

  • Impact: In some cases, the iPhone calendar fails to show all accepted meetings.
  • Workaround: The workaround is to delete your Exchange account from your iPhone and then set up the account again on the phone. This will cause the phone to re-sync with the calendar and resolve the issue.
    • To delete your account:
      • Tap Settings
      • Tap Mail, Contacts, Calendars
      • Tap on your Exchange account
      • Tap Delete Account
    • After successfully deleting your account, set up your account again.

var text8 = document.getElementById("displayText8");
if(ele8.style.display == "block") {
ele8.style.display = "none";
text8.innerHTML = "Show Issue";
}
else {
ele8.style.display = "block";
text8.innerHTML = "Hide Issue";
}
}

Calendar Appointment Shift

function toggle9() {
var ele9 = document.getElementById("toggleText9");
var text9 = document.getElementById("displayText9");
if(ele9.style.display == "block") {
ele9.style.display = "none";
text9.innerHTML = "Show Issue";
}
else {
ele9.style.display = "block";
text9.innerHTML = "Hide Issue";
}
}

Show Issue

  • Impact: If using an android phone and synching calendar events, recurring events can randomly “shift their time.” This will be reflected on both the mobile device and your Exchange calendar.
  • Workaround: Note if the event time in the body of the calendar invitation is in conflict with scheduled event, it should be updated manually by correcting the scheduling of the event. Commonly the shift has been 6 hours but this could change to 7 hours when the daylight savings time switches to standard.
  • Resolution: The vendor has not formally acknowledged the issue.

Listproc

Responding to Listproc Messages

function toggle10() {
var ele10 = document.getElementById("toggleText10");
var text10 = document.getElementById("displayText10");
if(ele10.style.display == "block") {
ele10.style.display = "none";
text10.innerHTML = "Show Issue";
}
else {
ele10.style.display = "block";
text10.innerHTML = "Hide Issue";
}
}

Show Issue

  • Impact: If an Exchange user sends an email to a list and includes other addresses on the same To: or CC: lines, the emails will be delivered to the recipients fine. However, those receiving the email will notice in their email headers that extraneous text of "hooch.colorado.edu" gets appended to the last email address (be it another list, or an individual's email address). Thus, if the recipient replies to the email, the address with the appended text will bounce back as undeliverable.
  • Workaround: To avoid this, after selecting reply-to, manually remove the extraneous @hooch.colorado.edu text before sending the email.

Extraneous Embedded HTML In Subscribers Addresses

function toggle11() {
var ele11 = document.getElementById("toggleText11");
var text11 = document.getElementById("displayText11");
if(ele11.style.display == "block") {
ele11.style.display = "none";
text11.innerHTML = "Show Issue";
}
else {
ele11.style.display = "block";
text11.innerHTML = "Hide Issue";
}
}

Show Issue

Owner Is Unable to Administer a List

function toggle12() {
var ele12 = document.getElementById("toggleText12");
var text12 = document.getElementById("displayText12");
if(ele12.style.display == "block") {
ele12.style.display = "none";
text12.innerHTML = "Show Issue";
}
else {
ele12.style.display = "block";
text12.innerHTML = "Hide Issue";
}
}

Show Issue

  • Impact: If you get the response from the list server of 'No command found' when you try to add or delete a subscriber and you know the command that you're using is correct, your email is likely embedding HTML in the command.  When this happens, the list server cannot understand what you're asking it to do.
  • Workaround: If the email account you're using to admin your list is on the new Exchange service, it could be that some list administrative commands are being sent as HTML instead of the required plain text format.  If you use Outlook when you create a new email message, click on the “Options” tab at the top of the untitled email message and then click “As Plain Text.” Then send your message to listproc@lists.colorado.edu with your usual add or delete command (and a blank subject line). Also if you copy/paste email addresses into a plain text email, HTML code oftengets embedded in the subscriber address (even though the email is in plain text). Rather than copying/pasting, you may try to type in the subscriber's email address.

Email addresses are dropped from headers when there are multiple list addresses

function toggle13() {
var ele13 = document.getElementById("toggleText13");
var text13 = document.getElementById("displayText13");
if(ele13.style.display == "block") {
ele13.style.display = "none";
text13.innerHTML = "Show Issue";
}
else {
ele13.style.display = "block";
text13.innerHTML = "Hide Issue";
}
}

Show Issue

  • Impact: If multiple lists are included in an emailing, not all lists being sent to will show up in Exchange headers when the email to the lists is received by subscribers. The sender's email and the list server logs shows all of the list addresses being sent to. When the email is received (even by the person who sent it to the lists), one list is missing in the to: and cc: fields even though it was correctly delivered.
  • Workaround: There currently is no known workaround.
