Off-campus users that do not have an IdentiKey must first receive an invitation to retrieve a file. When they enter the address in their browser to retrieve the file, they will be prompted to create an account. They can then use that account to download the file again, if needed. That account expires after 14 days.
Once the recipient has been notified that a file is ready to download, they have 14 days to retrieve it. It can be downloaded as many times as is necessary in the 14 days. In the event that the File Transfer service’s software must be rolled back to an earlier version, files may not be preserved.
Accellion is the company that provides the service functionality. The server and all of the data is located on-campus.
The file fingerprint is used to verify that the file that you sent or received was not corrupted or changed during transfer. It is based on the contents of the file and not the name of the file or the date it was created or changed. Click here to read more information about file fingerprint.
The largest file size you can send is 20 GB. There is no set limit on the number of files you can send.
Any CU-Boulder employee can send a file to any individual , on-campus or off-campus, with an email address. The service will not send files to email lists.
Faculty, staff, and student employees of the University of Colorado at Boulder can initiate file transfers to anyone with an email address. If you fall into one of these categories but are unable to use the service, call the IT Service Center to get access. Email accounts pre-registered for the service are based on the CU-Boulder white pages directory.
The CU-Boulder Large File Transfer Service allows users to safely send files that are larger than the email attachment size limitation; usually around 50MBs. Files are transferred over an encrypted channel.
