Mark Werner is Associate Director of Academic Technology Strategy and Support. In this role, he manages the Academic Technology Consultants, partners with other educational technology units on campus, and provides learning analytics support for the campus. Previously he was Associate Director of Academic Technology Research, Manager of Instructional Technology Support Services, and Distributed Academic Technology Coordinator for the Arts and Humanities faculty. He has also been an assistant professor of technical communication at the University of Colorado at Denver. Mark holds a Ph.D in rhetoric and an M.A. in English from Carnegie Mellon University; and a B.S. in technical communication from the University of Minnesota. Before his entrance into university teaching, he was an information editor at IBM Corporation.
Mark has authored a number of technical reports and conference presentations on academic technologies and their application to teaching and learning. He also helps facilitate the Teaching with Technology seminar and serves on the Colorado Learning and Teaching with Technology (COLTT) Conference Committee
When he is not on campus, you can find Mark in Olde Town Arvada enjoying the local fare; or at the Westminster Home Depot purchasing some hardware or building materials for his aging home.
