Service Restored: Datacenter UPS Repair

Description

The Office of Information Technology (OIT) will be performing repairs on the uninterruptible power supply (UPS) in the Computing Center’s datacenter on Friday, January 6, starting at 8 p.m. This maintenance is necessary to repair the datacenter’s main UPS which suffered a mechanical failure this past Wednesday. Campus services have been connected to temporary UPSs and will remain in place until the main UPS is repaired.

Impact

There should be no impact to campus enterprise services as a result of these mechanical repairs; however, until the main UPS is repaired there is a slightly elevated risk that campus enterprise services could experience an interruption should utility power be interrupted for an extended period of time. We are estimating that the repairs work will be completed by 6 a.m. Saturday morning, but we won’t have a more accurate estimation of the duration of the repairs until the repair work begins.
