IT Policies

Overview

CU IT policies are established to educate the campus community about the appropriate use of the campus computing and network resources. IT Policies are nested within four levels: University of Colorado System (issued as Administrative Policy Statements or APS’s), CU-Boulder (issued under the Office of the Chancellor), IT Office (issued under the Office of the Associate Vice Chancellor for IT/CIO, which includes OIT) and specific departmental IT policies.

University of Colorado System Administrative Policies

Administrative Policy Statements (APS) provide guidance, procedures, and requirements for all four CU campuses. These policies are based on external and internal mandates, laws, and regulations. These policies are developed in the offices of the University president and vice presidents.

CU-Boulder Policies and Guidelines

Campuswide policies and statements that apply to faculty, students and staff that are issued from the Office of the Chancellor.

OIT Campuswide IT Policies

Campuswide IT policies, best practices, standards, and service expectations that are issued from the Office of the Associate Vice Chancellor for IT/CIO and OIT.

Departmental IT Policies

Individual academic, research, and administrative departments have IT policies unique to the special requirements of that department. Be aware of specific IT policies within your department. Check with your CSR for more details.
