Topics are components of modules and sub-modules. They can be links to course files, web pages, or tools in D2L. The following documentation shows how to create a new topic by creating a new file.
*Note: Topics can have start and end dates individually, but it is easier to set dates for the module which will apply for all included topics.
Select the module you want to place the new topic in. Then from the New drop-down menu select the the type of topic you would like to create. In this instance, it is a document.
Type a topic Title and then enter your desired content. Once finished with this click Publish.
*Note: If you would like to insert media into your new topic, click on the Insert Stuff icon (). Learn more about Insert Stuff by visiting the Insert Media Files page.
*Note: If you would like you can click Save as Draft. This will hide it from others view but you can still see it. It will still appear in the content but in draft form until you decide to publish it.
You should see a pop-up in the lower right hand corner saying your topic was Created Successfully.
From the drop-down menu to the right of the topic, select Edit Properties.
Here you can change the status of the topic to either Draft or Published.
Click Add restrictions... Here you can Add start date, Add end date, and Add due date.
Under Release Conditions you can Create new conditions or Browse to add pre-existing conditions. See more on Release Conditions.
