Starting with the fall 2012 semester, our campus will once again be a one-online-learning-environment campus as CULearn will be replaced by Desire2Learn (D2L) at the start of the new academic year. Both online learning environments will continue to run in parallel through the summer 2012 terms, but CULearn will not be available after August 31. Therefore, we strongly encourage you to start using D2L now, for any summer courses you may be teaching.
Desire2Learn provides new and enhanced functionality with a flexible, modern and user-friendly interface. More information about D2L is available online at http://oit.colorado.edu/d2l.
Following are some important dates and access considerations to keep in mind.
Access to spring 2012 courses ends May 24:In order to facilitate the backup of CULearn courses and their transfer into D2L, instructors will have access to their spring courses for only two weeks after the semester ends - through May 24 - rather than for 60 days as in previous semesters.
Moving CULearn course content to D2L: OIT will transfer all Spring CULearn courses into D2L and make them available starting July 23. If you wish to start building your course in D2L prior to July 23, you will need to make copies of any CULearn course content you plan to re-use before May 25. You can request assistance with saving or moving CULearn course content by contacting email@example.com or do it yourself by following the step-by-step instructions available at http://oit.colorado.edu/d2l/content-transfer. We have also scheduled hands-on clinics on May 15 and May 24 to further assist you; learn more about these at http://oit.colorado.edu/faculty/events.
We want to make the transition from one online learning environment to another as simple and pain-free as possible. Here are some additional resources that can help.
