Service Restored: UPS Installation (Localized Network Outages)

Description

In order to install new uninterruptible power supplies (UPSs), on Saturday, November 19 there will be a number of brief network outages in specific buildings on campus (see Affected Buildings below). These new UPSs will help sustain network switches in these buildings during short-duration power outages, resulting in more reliable network services.

Impact

Each network and wireless connection in the affected buildings (see Affected Buildings below) will experience one or more 5-10 minute outages as network equipment is moved to these new UPSs.

Affected Buildings

Balch Fieldhouse & Press Box, Carlson, Clare, Dal Ward, Euclid AutoPark, EHSC, Environmental Design, Grounds, Health Physics, Imig Music, Ketchum, Power House, Ramaley, Recreation Center (outages will be completed prior to 9 am opening), TB01, TB09, TB82, Telecom (Offices only - data center and main uplink will not experience outages), University Club, Visual Arts.
