National Cyber Security Awareness Month is an annual effort to increase awareness and prevention of online security problems, spearheaded by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security and the National Cyber Security Alliance (NCSA). In tandem with the nationwide effort the University of Colorado is launching a new security awareness campaign. The primary goal for the University Information Security program is to protect the confidentially, integrity, and availability of information. A new monthly newsletter from the Office of Information Security will provide you information to help you protect the university information in your care and protect yourself from the continually changing threats we all face online.
Do you think that you are not a target for cyber-crime? Do you think that your information or computer has no value? Unfortunately, nothing could be further from the truth. Your information and your computer have value to criminal syndicates operating online. In fact you are the cyber criminal’s number one target. The newsletter this month explains how and why you are a target. To learn more please visit the Office of Information Security web site (https://www.cu.edu/information-privacy-and-security) to read more about how "You are the target."
