The Intelligent Agents tool allows Instructors to set up automatic notifications to be sent to themselves, advisors, and students when specified course performance criteria are met. It can be used to both recognize student achievement (e.g., a highscore on a quiz) and warn of potential problems (e.g., lack of online activity or poor performance on an exam). The following documentation demonstrates the process of creating an Intelligent Agent.
Log into D2L and click on Edit Course from the navigation bar.
The Agent Repetition section allows you to choose whether to send the notification only the first time or every time the criteria is met.
To set a schedule for how frequently to run a check for the selected criteria, select the Use Schedule checkbox and then click the Update Schedule button.
In the Update Agent Schedule window, set your desired schedule and then click Update.
When the criteria for your agent is met, an e-mail will need to be sent to the person who met the criteria. To do this you must enter one of the following commands in the To: text box:
Once you have entered one of these commands, fill out the rest of the e-mail message.
Click Save and Close and your new intelligent agent will be created.
