Keep your Computer Safe with up-to-date Antivirus Software

Last Updated: 10/17/2011

Antivirus software is one of the most important tools for safeguarding your computer, vital University information, and personal data from viruses and worms. All CU Boulder faculty, staff and students are encouraged to check their computers for a current version of antivirus software, as some software has been updated.

The IT Security Office (ITSO) recommended software is available on the OIT website at http://oit.colorado.edu/antivirus.

Virus infections on the University of Colorado Boulder campus create a significant burden on those whose computers become infected. A virus can waste system and network resources, collect or expose sensitive information, and cause software and hardware failures. Fixing these problems post-infection requires a lot of time and effort, usually resulting in rebuilding the system from scratch. This burden is increased exponentially when the virus infects multiple computers on campus. Prevent this hassle and stay protected with antivirus software, provided at no-cost to faculty, staff, and students.

Antivirus is one way to keep yourself protected from online attacks. To learn more about antivirus and the other security tools OIT makes available to you, please visit the OIT Security website at http://oit.colorado.edu/it-security.

If you have any questions, please contact the IT Service Center at 303-735-4357 (or 5-HELP from an on-campus phone) or help@colorado.edu. Phone help is available Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m.
