SUBJECT: Completing the Transition to Our New Messaging and Calendaring Service
Over the past year the Office of Information Technology has been working along with your departmental computer support representatives (CSRs) to migrate faculty, staff and retiree CULink e-mail accounts to the campus’s Microsoft Exchange e-mail and calendaring service. Many of you are already using Exchange, which includes an initial 1 gigabyte of e-mail storage quota (CULink had .2 gigabyte quotas) and the relative ease of scheduling meetings and resources. I now seek the help of those of you who have not yet migrated by encouraging you to schedule your migration to Exchange as soon as possible. December 29 is our target to complete migrations so that the old CULink service, which is costly to maintain, can be retired during the spring 2012 semester. After December we will be less able to take into account individual preferences for migration dates or times. Indefinitely maintaining CULInk affects the overall good of the campus through the continued dollar costs of CULInk and it limits OIT’s ability to provide other services.
We suggest contacting your department’s CSR to schedule your migration, but if you prefer, you can use our online migration request form (http://oit.colorado.edu/exchange/request-form) to schedule your migration for a day that is convenient for you. Accounts are migrated between 10 p.m. and 2 a.m. every Monday through Thursday and your account remains accessible throughout the migration window. We provide dedicated assistance for setting up your preferred e-mail program to work with Exchange after you’ve been migrated and you can schedule the support professional to come to your office at a time that is convenient for you. And we have easy to follow step-by-step e-mail program configuration instructions available at http://oit.colorado.edu/exchange/e-mail-calendar-programs so you can do the setup yourself if you prefer.
Please join us for an Exchange project presentation on Friday, October 14, from noon to 1 pm in Humanities 1B50 when project leaders will describe the migration process, provide an overview of Exchange and answer your questions. You will also be able to join the presentation online if you are unable to attend in person or watch the presentation later at a time that is convenient for you. Learn more here: http://oit.colorado.edu/exchange/migrate-culink.
You can learn more about migrating to Exchange by visiting http://oit.colorado.edu/exchange/migrate-culink. If you have questions about the Microsoft Exchange service or the migration process, please contact the IT Service Center at email@example.com or 303-735-4357 (5-HELP from a campus phone). Phone help is available Monday through Friday, 8 am to 7 pm. Your departmental CSR is also well informed about Exchange and the migration process.
