El Capitan in Early-Adoption Phase

Submitted by stauffeg on

Apple released its latest operating system, OS X 10.11 El Capitan, to the general public on September 30, 2015. The Office of Information Technology (OIT) has been testing the new operating system while it was in early-release status in order to confirm compatibility with key campus services. OIT has currently listed OS 10.11 El Capitan as software that is in the early-adoption phase on its Software Life Cycle page.

As is the case with most new software releases, there are initially a number of incompatibilities with commonly used applications. As more testing reveals that El Capitan compatibility issues have been resolved, it will become “recommended” by OIT and that will be reflected on the Software Life Cycle page. You can learn more about El Capitan, including compatibility issues and how to install the OS, in the Apple Software section of our Personal Computing & Devices area.

If you have questions about El Capitan, please contact the IT Service Center at help@colorado.edu or call 303-735-4357 (5-HELP from a campus phone). If your computer is managed by Dedicated Desktop Support, your technician will soon be in touch with you and your department about upgrade options for El Capitan.
