Exchange - Configuration for Outlook 2010 Clients Already in Use

Overview

Outlook 2010 and OIT's Exchange service go hand in hand. Outlook 2010 is part of the Office 2010 productivity suite, which can be acquired through CU-Boulder's Microsoft Campus Agreement.

These instructions for people who are already using Outlook 2010, and want to configure their program to access an Exchange account.

Quick Start

Exchange configuration settings
If you already know how to configure Outlook 2010, use the specifications below to configure for OIT's Exchange service.

  • Exchange Server: exc2.ad.colorado.edu
    • SSL Enabled
    • Authentication: Password
    • Port: 993
  • User name: your CU Login name
  • Password: your IdentiKey password
  • Login requires: AD\username
  • Proxy Server
    • SSL Enabled
    • Principle name: msstd:exchange.colorado.edu
  • Check both "on slow networks, connect using HTTP first, then connect using tcp/ip)" and "on fast networks, connect using HTTP first, then connect using tcp/ip)"

From the Start menu, open the Control Panel.

Click the Mail icon.

Click the E-Mail Accounts... button.

Click the New... button at the top, under the E-mail tab.

Check the Manually configure server settings or additional server types box, click the Next button.

Select the Microsoft Exchange option, click the Next button.

In the Microsoft Exchange server: text field, type in exc2.ad.colorado.edu. In the User Name: text field, type your CU Login Name. Click the More Settings... button.

Click on the Security tab. Make sure that Always prompt for logon credentials has been selected. This should be deselected after the account has been verified/validated.

Click on the Connection tab. Make sure that Connect using my Local Area Network (LAN) has been selected.

Check the Connect to Microsoft Exchange using HTTP box. Click the Exchange Proxy Settings... button.

In the https:// field, type exchange.colorado.edu into the first line. Check the Connect using SSL only box.

Check the Only connect to proxy servers that have this principal name in their certificate: and type msstd:exchange.colorado.edu underneath. Check mark both On fast networks and On slow networks.

Be sure that NTLM Authentication has been selected. Then, click the OK button.

Click the Check Name button.

Note: When the Check Names button is pressed, the server name may change from exc2.ad.colorado.edu to exc1 or exc3, this is normal and does not impact the rest of the setup.

In the User name: field type in ad\ then your CU Login Name. In the Password: field, type in your IdentiKey password. Click the OK button.
