CULink Web Client - Delete and Compact Messages

Last Updated: 10/19/2012
Web Based Application/Software
  • This tutorial is operating system independent.

Overview

The CULink web client has a setting that does not delete messages out of your mail box and automatically move them to the Trash folder. Instead, CULink allows you to first select a message you would like to delete which then displays the delete symbol next to the message indicating that the message is no longer wanted. To actually permanently delete that message that has been marked for deletion, a second step known as "Compact" is required.  This setting provides an extra level of protection for CULink users who may have selected mail for deletion by mistake.

The directions below demonstrate how to delete and compact e-mail from your Inbox or other folders in the CULink web client.

Deleting to the Trash Folder
If you would prefer to delete messages to the Trash folder, and take the risk that is associated with that setting, please reference the Delete Messages to the Trash Folder tutorial.

Step 4

To permanently remove deleted messages from the mail folder that you are working in, click on the Delete drop-down menu and select Compact. It is strongly recommended that you make absolutely certain that you no longer need the messages flagged for deletion before you perform the Compact function.

Step 5

Once the folder is compacted, all messages flagged for deletion within that folder have been actually deleted; they are not in the Trash folder.
