In the past week the campus spam filters have begun blocking a growing number of e-mail messages from Yahoo.com accounts as the number of spam messages from Yahoo servers has increased significantly. The campus’s filtering of e-mail from a specific server is based on reputation and the Yahoo reputation score has decreased to a point that many reputation-based filtering services, including ours, have begun applying a higher level of filtering. This could mean that along with a lot of spam, some legitimate messages sent from Yahoo account owners are not delivered to their CU-Boulder destination.
OIT is currently trying to adjust how e-mail from Yahoo is filtered but until Yahoo’s reputation scores improve, some legitimate messages may not be delivered to CU-Boulder accounts. To learn more about how spam is filtered on our campus, or to learn how to report spam, please go to the E-mail Delivery and Anti-Spam page.
