As part of this year’s ongoing efforts to improve student printing and scanning services, the Office of Information Technology (OIT) has launched a mobile printing pilot program, open to anyone who wants to give this new printing method a try.
Mobile printing allows you to e-mail your print jobs to a central printing queue, from any device, for release at any campus print release station convenient to you. No printer drivers need to be installed, nor is a connection to the UCB Wireless network necessary, making this printing method highly mobile, convenient, and easy to use.
Swipe your Buff OneCard at any campus print release station to auto-enroll in mobile printing. Not sure where the print release stations are? Use our interactive campus printer map to find one convenient to your location.
Once enrolled, e-mail your print jobs to firstname.lastname@example.org for black and white processing or email@example.com for color processing. The content of your e-mail can consist of file attachments, text pasted into the body of the e-mail, or both. You’ll receive an automated response from the print server letting you know that your print request was successfully processed, after which you have 24 hours to release your print job from any campus print release station (again by swiping your Buff OneCard).
There are some limitations to mobile printing such as the requirement to send your print request from the @colorado.edu address that is associated with your Buff OneCard, restrictions on the types of files you can print, and a maximum printing size of 8.5” x 11”. For complete details, visit our Mobile Printing Pilot Program web page.
Please don’t hesitate to contact the IT Service Center with any questions or difficulties that come up when using mobile printing. Your feedback will allow us to improve the service during this pilot phase.
