| Service Maintenance: Router Upgrade (Network Outages) | Thursday, May 30, 2013 - 6:00am | Thursday, May 30, 2013 - 7:00am | VIEW |
A number of Internet service providers have recently begun blocking messages from the Colorado.edu domain after an account on campus was compromised and started sending spam. The account has since been disabled but the Office of Information Technology (OIT) is aware of the following ISPs that are currently blocking some messages from our campus: AOL, Comcast, Road Runner and Jefferson County.
OIT is working with these service providers to remove our domain from their block lists, but in the meantime, those who try to send e-mail from a Colorado.edu address to someone who has an e-mail account with these ISPs, may receive a rejectionnotification. Removal from block lists often takes up to 10 days.
To learn more about how spam is filtered on our campus, or to learn how to report spam, please go to http://oit.colorado.edu/email/spam. Information about protecting your account from being compromised can be found on the IT Security Awareness website at http://oit.colorado.edu/it-security/security-awareness.
If you have questions about e-mail filtering, spam or protecting your accounts, please contact the IT Service Center at help@colorado.edu or call 303-735-4357 (5-HELP from a campus phone). Phone help is available 8 a.m. to 7 p.m., Monday through Friday.
