Overview
The MSCA provides licenses as a common good to CU-Boulder faculty and staff (including student employees) for select Microsoft products and upgrades.
Features
- A selection of Microsoft's most common software packages and operating systems.
- Download site that gives you the ability to download installers.
- Enterprise Client Access Licenses (CAL).
Benefits
- The software and upgrades are available for to CU-Boulder faculty and staff (including student employees) for both workplace computers and for university work conducted on a personally owned computer.
- Software can be downloaded, burned to a disc and installed at your convenience.
- The MSCA allows you to keep up with the latest upgrades for popular software titles without direct expense to you or your department.
- The MSCA is negotiated annually on behalf of the campus with the expectation that this arrangement will reduce the total amount of money the campus spends on Microsoft software and licenses.
Cost
- Microsoft Software Campus Agreement (MSCA) is provided as a common-good to the campus which means there is no direct cost to you or your department.
Who can get it
- Faculty, staff, and student staff computers purchased with CU-Boulder funds.
- Home computers used to work at home.
- Only those with an 'employee' affiliation can log in to the download site.
- Any Trial Version of Office must be uninstalled from a computer before installing CU's site-licensed version of Office.
How to get it
Computers purchased with CU-Boulder funds
- Download software
- Log in with your IdentiKey to download disc images.
- Burn .ISO disc image files to CD or DVD.
- What you'll need: fast internet connection, blank CDs or DVDs, ISO Recorder Power Toy utility for Windows.
- CSR assistance
- Check with your Computer Support Representative (CSR). The CSR may already have media.
- OIT Desktop Support (Student Desktop Support Technicians) assistance
- Student Desktop Support Technicians can perform installations in the Walk-in Center and at your CU-Boulder office during a scheduled appointment.
Computers purchased with personal funds for work-at-home
- Download software
- Log in with your IdentiKey to download disc images.
- Burn .ISO disc image files to CD or DVD.
- What you'll need: fast internet connection, blank CDs or DVDs, ISO Recorder Power Toy utility for Windows.
- OIT Desktop Support (Student Desktop Support Technicians) assistance
- Student Desktop Support Technicians can perform installations in the Walk-in Center.
- Student Desktop Support Technicians cannot provide work-at-home customers Microsoft media (DVDs).
Note: Neither OIT or Tier 2 CSRs can provide Microsoft media (DVDs) for customers that use personally funded computers for work-at-home.
