Bulk Messaging

Last Updated: 10/19/2012
Overview

CU-Boulder offers a variety of mechanisms for sending university-related e-mail messages in bulk to groups of faculty, staff or students.  Carefully evaluate the available bulk e-mail mechanisms to ensure you have selected the tool appropriate to the task at hand.

Features
  • E-memo:  individual message which can be sent to specifically targeted groups. This service is administered by University Communications (for faculty/staff e-memos) and the Registrar's Office (for sstudent e-memos).
  • ListProc:  shared lists used to send information and/or have discussions among members of a particular group or community; managed by a designated list owner.
  • Course Roster E-mail:  portal-based e-mail mechanism which allows a faculty member to send an e-mail to all students registered for his/her class.
  • Exchange Distribution Lists: Exchange-based capabilities including AD group mailing lists, security permissions, and group invitations to calendar events.
Cost

ListProc and Course Roster E-mail are provided as common-good services to the campus which means there is no direct cost to list owners or list subscribers.

E-memos and Buff Bulletins do have a charge associated with them, paid for by the department or individual sending the message. There is no subscription fee charged to readers of the Buff Bulletins or E-memos.
