D2L - Retired Tools

Last Updated: 12/20/2012
Overview

User Homepages, Articles, and Journal Tools will no longer be available in D2L after the upgrade on January 3, 2013.

With the upgrade to Desire2Learn version 10.1, several tools that you may have used in the past,  User Homepages, Articles, and Journal, will be retired. If you used any of these tools and would like to archive your existing content, please see the information below on how to store it for future use. We will upgrade to D2L version 10.1 on January 2nd and we ask you to archive your data before that date since these tools won’t be available after the upgrade.

User Homepages

To move files stored through the User Homepages tool, right-click on the file and choose “Save As” to save it to your computer.  Continue this method to save all the files.

*Note: This is a tool you would have added to your course and is different than your Course Homepage, D2L Homepage, or the Homepage URL in your profile.

Articles

Archive the information by copying and pasting it into a News Item, a Content Item or to a document on your computer. To learn more about these processes visit one of the following tutorials:

Journal

Archive Journal entries by copying and pasting your content into the Blog tool in D2L or a document on your computer. Your Journal entries are visible only to you and if you would like to keep them private in the Blog, create a private entry for your Journal content.

Alternatively, you can use the Groups tool to create private forums for students in the Discussions. You can achieve this by creating groups of one student and setting up a private discussion topic for each group. To learn more about these processes visit one of the following tutorials:

For more information on storing the content from these sunsetted tools, contact the IT Service Center at (303)735-4357 or help@colorado.edu.
