Which typeface is friendlier: Futura or Impact? How does tracking differ from kerning, and why does it matter? Or does it? If you’ve ever asked yourself questions like these, you may be a “type wonk.” That’s okay, though, you’re not alone. In fact, type should matter to everyone. After all, it says everything about how we communicate with text and it can underscore or derail our message with a single click.
Tired of wasting time tediously formatting your works cited page? In this workshop, participants will learn to use Zotero, a free citation management program. Come learn about Trello, a free, simple, and powerful web-based project management/collaboration tool. Trello provides a highly visual approach to projects; consisting of boards, lists, and cards. At it’s simplest, Trello is an online version of a whiteboard with sticky notes. However, Trello offers many powerful features including comments, checklists, due dates, file attachments, notifications, and strong collaborative tools. With Trello you can quickly and easily see what is being worked on, who is working on what, and where something is in a process.

9/5 Getting to Know Your MAC
Both the Office of Information Technology and the University Libraries are dedicated to serving the swiftly changing needs of the campus community. We seek methods which authentically capture and assess the needs of students and faculty. Towards that end, OIT and the University Libraries invited 12 staff members to attend a Participatory Design workshop led by Nancy Foster, a nationally-known researcher and anthropologist from the University of Rochester, on August 7th and 8th, 2012.
