Learner's Lunch: Just My Type 10/24 12:00

Last Updated: 05/30/2013

Which typeface is friendlier: Futura or Impact? How does tracking differ from kerning, and why does it matter? Or does it? If you’ve ever asked yourself questions like these, you may be a “type wonk.” That’s okay, though, you’re not alone. In fact, type should matter to everyone. After all, it says everything about how we communicate with text and it can underscore or derail our message with a single click. In this session Dave Underwood, a graphic designer and certified type wonk, will introduce us to the wonder and the power of type, from understanding its effect on basic cognition to examining how it steers our emotions and beliefs (Did you know Helvetica was responsible for the start of the Vietnam War? We’ll talk about that.). Please join us. Led by Dave Underwood
