The integration of computing resources, software, and networking, along with data storage, information management, and human resources to advance scholarship and research is a fundamental goal of cyberinfrastructure (CI). The mission of Research Computing is to provide leadership in developing, deploying, and operating an integrated CI that enables CU-Boulder to achieve further preeminence as a research university. Our mission creates opportunities for researchers, educators, and learners to share ideas, expertise, tools, and facilities in new and powerful ways that cannot be realized if each of these components is applied independently. Bridging the gap between the reality of CI today and its potential in the immediate future is critical to building a CI that can support future scholarship and research activities.

The IT Security Office (ITSO) will provide strategic and tactical planning for a security framework applied to both the campus and OIT environments. The ITSO will provide an information risk management (IRM) function to support a secure campus IT environment including discovery and recommendation of security solutions, developing security policies, procedures and standards. The IRM function will also include planning, oversight, and coordination for data integrity and privacy, disaster recovery, network security, incident response, and policy enforcement activities.

Service Engineering is responsible for setting technology strategies and standards for campus IT based on the business mission, processes, and priorities of the campus and, then, developing those strategies into actionable plans, drawing on the expertise within the unit in the areas of systems development, systems integration, project management, and program management.
