The Office of International Education (OIE) is pleased to announce the OIE Global Citizen Awards to honor and recognize outstanding contributions to international understanding by members of the CU-Boulder community.
Applications and supporting material are due by 5 p.m. on October 2, 2015. The recipients of all awards will be honored during International Education Week at a special awards ceremony on November 18, 2015 from 4:30 p.m. to 6 p.m.

Andrew Nelson, who studied abroad on CU-Boulder's study abroad exchange Technische Universität Darmstadt (TUD), Germany won the prestigious Goldwater Scholarship. While abroad last fall, he worked on a research project in proton fast ignition to gain experience in the highly specialized field.

CU-Boulder student alumni of the Global Seminar: Conservation and Indigenous Peoples in Tanzania (Arusha, Tanzania) are working to bring lessons learned from their experiences abroad back to the Boulder campus.

NAFSA: Association of International Educators just released an updated report on the economic impact of international students in the U.S. They found that international students contributed $24 billion to the U.S. economy during the 2012-2013 academic year supporting 313,000 jobs. The contribution of international students in Colorado was $280,969,000,000 which supported 4,210 jobs. CU-Boulder international students' portion was $58,024,000 and their presence supported 988 jobs.
