Here are some resources you might explore in your quest to seek funding for international graduate-level research or study. Some of the better known programs are listed here (but don’t limit yourself to these):
U.S. Student Fulbright Program is the largest and most prestigious U.S. government international exchange program. It offers opportunities for students to undertake international graduate study or research, or to teach English overseas.
Current CU-Boulder students who wish to apply for a Fulbright must apply through the Office of International Education (OIE). The annual deadline for application is in the early fall semester; the next deadline is September 9, 2013. We suggest you start planning in the previous spring semester or even earlier. Contact the CU-Boulder Office of International Education for more information.
One hundred twenty-seven CU-Boulder students have received U.S. Student Fulbright Awards since 1997. To learn about who they are and where they went, click here.
Boren Fellowships provide up to $30,000 to U.S. graduate students to add an international and language component to their graduate education through specialization in area study, language study, or increased language proficiency. Boren Fellowships support study and research in areas of the world that are critical to U.S. interests, including Africa, Asia, Central & Eastern Europe, Eurasia, Latin America, and the Middle East.
Please contact the Boren Awards staff at firstname.lastname@example.org or 1-800-618-NSEP with any questions. If you would like advice on your project or application, you may also contact us at email@example.com or 303-492-6016.
You will find a lot of good resources on the CU-Boulder Graduate School Funding Page.
Fellowship information on many of the most prestigious international scholarships available, for instance Rhodes, Marshall, Mitchell, Churchill, etc., is available from the Top Scholarships Office.
The Petry scholarship is offered by IIE's Rocky Mountain region for U.S. students from IIE member institutions (CU-Boulder is a member) currently enrolled in a graduate degree program.
