When to Arrive

F1 and J1 students may enter the US up to 30 days before the start date on your I-20 or DS-2019.

Plan your flight so that you will arrive in Denver at least one day before you are required to be at CU. The recommended arrival date varies depending upon if you are an undergraduate (including transfer students), graduate student, graduate teaching assistant or exchange student.

All undergraduates and undergraduate transfer students are required to sign up for and attend an Academic Orientation. Sign up now. All undergraduates must attend an academic orientation in order to register for classes. The mandatory program is from January 5-10, 2014. Please plan to spend these days attending your required program and do not schedule other activities for these days.

Important Information for New International Students for Fall 2013:

All new and transfer international undergraduate students will complete the Immigration Check-In with ISSS during their Orientation program,January 5-10, 2014.

All graduate students must sign up for an Immigration Check-In session no later than (date TBD) AND attend the required ISSS Orientation program on January 10, 2014. Registration is required for the check-in sessions (registration is free). To register for an Immigration Check-In session, go to: (link TBD).

Exchange Students (at CU on reciprocal contracts only) must complete the J-1 Exchange Student Immigration Check-In on Thursday, January 9 at 11am.

New International Students wtih a residence hall contract may move in to their residence hall room beginning on Wednesday, January 8, 2014. All residence hall students will receive more specific infromation regarding the move-in and check-in process in December. If you are... Arrive no later than... Check-in to Orientation begins: Your Required Academic Orientation Begins:
A new undergraduate student Sunday, January 5, no later than 5 p.m. Monday January 6 at 9 a.m.

All new international Undergraduates are required to attend: Sunday, January 5 at 6pm, dinner at Kittredge. The orientation program is from January 5th-10th.

A graduate student

The day before your department's meeting


  Ask your academic department. There is a required ISSS International Graduate Orientation program on January 10, 2014 from 1-5p.m. in Eaton Humanities Building; this isa mandatory programas long as it doesn't conflict with required department meetings.
An Exchange Student - only those at CU on a contract with your home university. Wednesday, January 8 J-1 Exchange Student Immigration Check-In: Thursday, January 9 at 11 a.m.

Exchange students are required to attend the ISSS International Graduate Orientation program from 1-5 p.m. on January 10, 2014 in Eaton Humanities Building.  There will be critical information for exchange students at this meeting.
