When to Arrive

F1 and J1 students may enter the US up to 30 days before the start date on your I-20 or DS-2019.

Plan your flight so that you will arrive in Denver at least one day before you are required to be at CU. The recommended arrival date varies depending upon if you are an undergraduate (including transfer students), graduate student, graduate teaching assistant or exchange student.

All undergraduates and undergraduate transfer students are required to sign up for and attend an Academic Orientation. Sign up now. All undergraduates must attend an academic orientation in order to register for classes. The mandatory program is from January 4 to January 8, 2015. Please plan to spend these days attending your required program and do not schedule other activities for these days.

Important Information for New International Students for Spring 2015:

All new and transfer international undergraduate students will complete an Immigration Reporting Session with ISSS during their Orientation program.

All graduate students must sign up for an Immigration Reporting Session AND attend the required ISSS Orientation program on January 9, 2015 from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. at Benson Earth Sciences Building Room 180. Registration is required for the reporting sessions (registration is free).

Exchange Students (at CU on reciprocal contracts only) will complete the J-1 Exchange Student Immigration Reporting on January 8, 2015 from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. Exchange students must also attend the required ISSS Orientation program on January 9, 2015 from 1 p.m to 5 p.m. at Benson Earth Sciences Building Room 180.

New undergraduate International Students with a residence hall contract may move in to their residence hall room beginning on January 4, 2015. Graduate and exchange students can move in beginning January 7, 2015. All residence hall students will receive more specific information regarding the move-in and check-in process in December. All new international Undergraduates are required to attend: Sunday, January 4, for Orientation check-in. The orientation program is from January 4-8, 2015.

A graduate student

The day before your department's meeting


 Friday, January 9 Ask your academic department. There is a required ISSS International Graduate Orientation program on Friday, January 9, 2015 from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. This is a mandatory program as long as it doesn't conflict with required department meetings.
An Exchange Student - only those at CU on a contract with your home university.


January 8

J-1 Exchange Student Immigration Reporting: Thursday, January 8 at 10 a.m. and 1 p.m.

Exchange students are required to attend the ISSS International Graduate Orientation program on Friday January 9, 2015 from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.  There will be critical information for exchange students at this meeting.
