Daniel Epstein, a University of Colorado Boulder graduate and Semester at Sea Spring 2007 alumnus, has just completed his second voyage on the MV Explorer. He returned not as a student, but as a founder of the Unreasonable Institute, a non-profit organization that strives to solve some of the world’s toughest challenges today by catalyzing the efforts of creative & resourceful entrepreneurs from across the globe.
For its Spring 2013 voyage, Semester at Sea partnered with the Unreasonable Institute and Stanford’s d.school to create Unreasonable at Sea. Unreasonable at Sea took entrepreneurs to 13 countries to test their innovative technologies, build relationships, receive mentoring from world-renowned entrepreneurs and global leaders, and mentor & learn from the Semester at Sea undergraduates who were studying abroad on the MV Explorer alongside them.
At the conclusion of their 100-day voyage, Epstein took a few moments to reflect on the impact that Unreasonable at Sea had on its participants, Semester at Sea’s students, and on himself: http://www.semesteratsea.org/2013/04/26/daniel-epstein-reflections-on-our-unreasonable-experiment/.
