2014 Diversity and Inclusion Summit - Call for Proposals

Building the Road Map: Educate, Inspire, Empower and Transform

The year 2014 marks the 50th commemoration of the landmark 1964 Civil Rights Act. The Civil Rights Act, along with the 1965 Voting Rights Act and the Fair Housing Act in 1968, helped establish the legal foundation for equality for all Americans.

The Civil Rights Act of 1964 outlawed discrimination on the basis of race in public accommodations and other public places, and established the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission. It was the most sweeping civil rights legislation since Reconstruction.

To honor this monumental legal shift in America, the 2014 Diversity and Inclusion Summit continues “Building the Road Map” that we hope will lead to achieving equality for all. This year, we seek proposals that will further our pursuit of a diverse and inclusive community as well as reflect and honor the historical context of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 as a foundation to transcend institutional oppression.

Proposals will:

  • Educate – giving us tools and/or a framework for diversity and inclusiveness
  • Inspire – sharing successes that have resulted in change
  • Empower – creating inclusive possibilities
  • Transform – shifting conflict into collaboration

Complete the online proposal here. You’ll be asked for a 100-word abstract and actionable "next steps."

Proposal Deadline: June 30, 2014.
