Norlin
The University of Colorado at Boulder is proud to offer the Norlin Scholars Program for highly motivated students with excellent academic or creative ability. Norlin Scholarships offer a range of educational benefits plus financial incentives for these students.

Founded in 1999, the Norlin Scholars Program is a community of students with a broad, synthetic view of education that embraces active learning, creativity, and interdisciplinarity. The scholarship is named after the distinguished former president of the University of Colorado, Dr. George Norlin, famous for his commitment to academic excellence and social equality. The program began with 24 first-year students and 12 juniors. It now includes approximately 125 students actively seeking CU degrees.

Benefits of the program include:

  • $3000 scholarship per academic year
  • Small, interdisciplinary courses and other small-group experiences emphasizing critical thinking, collaboration and written and oral communications skills
  • Experience on research or creative projects with faculty and/or honors theses
  • Access to top scholarship advising and guidance
  • Opportunities which include professional training and development, application of academics to community service, internships, and overseas experience

Norlin Scholars accepted as first-year students from their senior year in high school will receive a four-year award, contingent upon fine academic progress, fulfilling Norlin Scholar requirements, active engagement in the Norlin community, and adherence to CU's codes of professional, academic and personal conduct. University juniors (either continuing students at CU-Boulder or transfer students who may apply after completing 3 semesters of university experience) will receive a two-year award, contingent upon the same. The home base for Norlin Scholars is the Undergraduate Academy, located in Norlin Library.
