CU-Boulder announces new Office of Industry Collaboration

The University of Colorado Boulder today announced the opening of an Office of Industry Collaboration and the naming of Caroline Himes as director.

University Women’s Club: connecting Colorado women for nearly 100 years

The University Women’s Club at CU-Boulder is not your grandma’s afternoon tea. With 350 current members, these Boulder community women meet for lectures, hiking, French conversation, book groups among other interest group activities. The Club’s community and education mission is to promote friendship among women and raise scholarship funds for nontraditional students. 

'50 Reasons to Stay' video created to raise suicide prevention awareness

September is Suicide Prevention Month and Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) would like to invite the CU Community to learn and spread the word about how everyone can make a difference when it comes to suicide prevention.
 

Plans for new College of Media, Communication and Information (CMCI) move forward

Subcommittees charged with recommending curriculum and structure for the college’s seven academic units will hold public meetings beginning next week to share their initial ideas and solicit comments.

The CMCI will be an interdisciplinary college, housing programs in journalism, advertising and design, communication, the moving image and media production, media studies and a new department of information studies.

Ability to delay gratification may be linked to social trust, new CU-Boulder study finds

A person’s ability to delay gratification—forgoing a smaller reward now for a larger reward in the future—may depend on how trustworthy the person perceives the reward-giver to be, according to a new study by researchers at the University of Color

Get your Mini Med School diploma

Attend CU Mini Med School 2: The Clinical Year. Weekly lectures Sept. 18 - Nov. 13, Wednesday nights at 7 p.m. CU Mini Med School is a free eight-week program. You won't get a medical degree nor can you practice medicine, but you will get the background, the overviews, and the updates that can make all the pieces of the biomedical puzzle fall into place. And if you attend at least 5 of the 7 sessions you'll get a diploma! The purpose is simply to enlighten, provide a scientific background that will improve your understanding of the human body, and help you take charge of your own health.

CU-Boulder is a great place for foodies. CU-Boulder ranked in the top 10 for food and dining in a recent survey conducted by the website Cappex College Insider and based on student feedback.

Come out and support the CU Men's & Women's Soccer team at the 2013 Rocky Mountain College Cup. The University of Colorado men's & women's club soccer teams will take on Colorado State University on Friday, Sept. 20, 2013 at Dick's Sporting Goods Park Stadium.

Rwandan Genocide survivor to speak at CU Sept. 12

Immaculee Ilibagiza will visit CU-Boulder on Thursday, Sept. 12, at 7 p.m. to speak about her experiences surviving the Rwandan Genocide and her tireless work to spread world peace. Admission to the talk in the Glenn Miller Ballroom is free.

CU on the Weekend “Your Zombie Awaits” on Sept. 28

Join Stephen Graham-Jones, professor of English, in a discussion about our fascinations with zombie stories. Part of CU on the Weekend, “Your Zombie Awaits” is free and open to the public on Sept. 28 from 9 a.m. to noon.

CU Football: first game in Folsom for 2013 season

The Buffs kick off their Folsom Stadium season this Saturday at 6 p.m. Fans are encouraged to arrive early and enjoy festivities like Ralphie's Corral and the famous Ralphie run. The Buffs take on the Central Arkansas Bears following a successful season opener against the CSU Rams.
