Today, the University of Colorado Boulder welcomed more than 5,700 new students to our campus. During this morning's Convocation, I invited them to continue our proud institution's legacy of scholarship and citizenship. I share my invitation with you, and welcome you to our new academic year.

The University of Colorado Boulder Police Department is asking the public for help in identifying suspects involved in the Broadway underpass assault on August 23, 2013.
A composite sketch of one of the suspects, identified as Suspect #2 below, is shown here. Multiple witnesses confirmed that Suspect #2 left the scene with a bloody nose. An additional witness, who reportedly had contact with the suspects shortly after the assault, has told police the two suspects indicated that they are freshmen at CU.
Anyone who has information about this crime, or who believes they may know the identity of those involved, should contact CU Police at 303-492-6666.
More than just a place to sleep, CU-Boulder's residence halls are host to community and learning environments to support a diverse student body.
As nearly 6,500 students move to campus this week for the 2013-14 school year, CU-Boulder's newest residence hall, Kittredge Central, is welcoming students for the first time. Also, the nearby Kittredge West residence hall is reopened after renovations.

A new study conducted at the University of Colorado Boulder and involving Cornell University shows the outward appearance of female barn swallows, specifically the hue of their chestnut-colored breast feathers, has an influence on their physiological health.
