Staff Council Update: Current and upcoming staff events

The University of Colorado Boulder Staff Council (BCSC) is kicking off the new academic year with a series of events and drives for the CU-Boulder community. Join in for opportunities to donate school supplies, give blood, eat ice cream and learn more about the campus community.

CU-Boulder goes smoke free on Aug. 19 implementation date

The newest phase of the campus No Smoking Policy went into effect today, with the campus officially transitioning to a smoke free environment with designated smoking locations.

CU-Boulder’s new and renovated residence halls showcase new academic program, sustainability

CU-Boulder’s newest residence hall, Kittredge Central, is welcoming students this week for the first time, 53 of whom are engineering students and will be immersed in Spanish through the building’s new Residential Academic Program, or RAP. Also, the nearby Kittredge West residence hall is reopening this week after renovations. Both buildings comprise a number of “green” features to improve water and energy efficiency and to reduce the campus’s carbon footprint.

Through the creation of a simple shelter, students gain new skills, community

A group of 15 CU-Boulder environmental design students took their skills from studio to field this summer for a client-based construction project in New Mexico.

CU-Boulder volunteers to help new students move in Aug. 20 and 22

Volunteers from a variety of campus groups will be available to help new students move their belongings into residence halls at the University of Colorado Boulder Aug. 20 and Aug. 22 as New Student Move-In begins. New students will move in Aug. 20 through Aug. 22 with the majority of freshmen moving in on Aug. 22.

Call for nominations for the 2013 Chancellor's Employee of the Year award

Chancellor Philip P. DiStefano invites nominations for the 2013 Chancellor’s Employee of the Year Award. This annual award is presented to University of Colorado Boulder staff in recognition of and appreciation for exceptional job performance and distinguished contributions to the campus community. The award includes a prize of $1,500 (subject to payroll taxes) and a commemorative gift. The 2013 award will be presented at a private reception in November.

Generations in the Workplace workshop offered Sept. 11

Ever wonder if generational differences are hampering your workplace effectiveness? This Generations in the Workplace seminar will examine the different perspectives each generation brings to the workplace as well as offer tips on how to maximize interactions with co-workers. Special emphasis will be placed on communicating with, motivating, and rewarding different generations.
