The West is getting dustier, says CU-Boulder study

The amount of dust being blown across the landscape has increased over the last 17 years in large swaths of the West, according to a new study led by the University of Colorado Boulder.

The escalation in dust emissions — which may be due to the interplay of several factors, including increased windstorm frequency, drought cycles and changing land-use patterns — has implications both for the areas where the dust is first picked up by the winds and for the places where the dust is put back down.

eBay listing tip aids in arrest of serial bike thief

A serial thief who has stolen bikes from University of Colorado students on at least three occasions has been arrested. The Boulder County Sheriff’s Office arrested Wayne Willet Cron last week on an outstanding warrant requested by the University of Colorado Police Department. More>>

Paid research participation opportunity for car experts

Our lab in the CU-Boulder department of psychology is looking for participants who are excellent at identifying makes and models of modern cars. You will participate in identification and memory tests with brain activity recordings over the course of two sessions.

Students: Bike to Work Day is June 26

Bike to Work Day is just around the corner! You can register at biketowork2013.org as an individual or get a group of students together and sign up as a class.

Registered participants will be eligible to win prizes including from DRCOG. Swing by one of CU’s three breakfast stations between 6:30 and 9 a.m. to grab breakfast on your way to class. Stop by CU's Bike Station, located just east of the UMC, Monday-Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., to get your bike in shape for BTWD on June 26.

Nominate a superb faculty member for the "Faculty of the Year" award by June 24, 2013. The winner will be honored at the Faculty Convocation during Family Weekend, on October 4, 2013.
