The West is getting dustier, says CU-Boulder study

The amount of dust being blown across the landscape has increased over the last 17 years in large swaths of the West, according to a new study led by the University of Colorado Boulder.

The escalation in dust emissions — which may be due to the interplay of several factors, including increased windstorm frequency, drought cycles and changing land-use patterns — has implications both for the areas where the dust is first picked up by the winds and for the places where the dust is put back down.

Desire2Learn

Fall 2013 courses can now be requested in D2L

If you’re teaching a course in the fall and are planning to use Desire2Learn (D2L), now is great time to request your course. Requesting your course now will allow you to maximize the available time to develop your course. To request a course, instructors should log in to MyCUInfo and choose the Course Tools tab in Teaching Tools to “Request Desire2Learn Course.”

eBay listing tip aids in arrest of serial bike thief

A serial thief who has stolen bikes from University of Colorado students on at least three occasions has been arrested. The Boulder County Sheriff’s Office arrested Wayne Willet Cron last week on an outstanding warrant requested by the University of Colorado Police Department. More>>

CU-Boulder graduates ranked 10th in the nation for service in high-need schools

University of Colorado Boulder students have a strong desire to give back. This year CU-Boulder ranked among the top 10 feeder schools for City Year’s 2013-2014 corps, with 16 graduates joining City Year -- a national organization that unites young people for a year of service in 247 high-need schools across the country.
