Community Notes

What you should know about the April 20 campus closure

On April 20, 2013, the University of Colorado Boulder will be closed to non-affiliates as part of continuing efforts to ensure that the unwanted 420 gathering does not compromise campus operations. All CU faculty, staff and students will be asked by security staff, including University of Colorado Police, to show their Buff OneCards to enter the campus.

Visitors with official business on the campus needed to register for credentials by April 14, and the pre-registration process is now closed.

'The Bro Code,' April 24

Join the CU-Boulder Office of Victim Assistance and Moving to End Sexual Assault (MESA) for a screening of "The Bro Code," on Wednesday, April 24 at 6:15 p.m. in Cristol Chemistry room 140. The event is free and open to the public. The Bro Code examines American manhood, challenging the idea that being a "bro" - and a man - means glorifying sexism, bullying and abuse. A screening of the film will be followed by a discussion with the filmmaker Dr. Thomas Keith.

Water faucet

Don't be a drip! Help campus conserve water

You may have heard that 89% of Colorado is experiencing severe or worse drought. Here in the South Platte River Basin, which includes Boulder County, snowpack is at 68% of average. Cities and counties across the state are announcing water usage restrictions, with Boulder officials asking residents not to turn on irrigation systems until May. As we move into summer, we hope to be even more aggressive in our efforts at reducing water usage on campus, with a near-term goal of lowering water usage to 18 gallons per square foot per year.

Sustainable Fair April 24

Buffs! Reduce your carbon FOODprint

Buffs, we’re trying to get to zero waste and we need your help to do it. You can save student fees and natural resources: just choose to reuse! Student fee funded buildings like the UMC and Rec Center have a zero waste by 2015 goal, meaning we will reuse, recycle, or compost 90% of our waste instead of sending it to the landfill. At 51%, we still have a long way to go. Simple choices you make when dining on campus can help CU Buffaloes continue to be leaders in campus sustainability.
